Latest News Nicholson Shatters Big Bass Record Tuesday, May 01, 2018 Nicholson Shatters Ranger Aluminum Cup Big Bass Record by Dominick Schenewerk Day one of the 2018 Ranger Aluminum Cup hosted on Kentucky Lake brought quite a showing of impressive fish including a Ranger Aluminum Cup record-shattering big bass. Caught by Mason Nicholson of Pleasant View, Tennessee, the 9.91-pound bass turned heads as it crossed the USA Bassin stage. “This is my personal bass that I have ever caught and plus is it was the biggest bass I've ever weighed in during a tournament all at the same time,” said Nicholson. “My biggest before that was a 6.36-pound fish, so I jumped up quite a bit.” Nicholson caught his big bass, which broke the previous Ranger Aluminum Cup record by 2.68 pounds, by flipping a magic craw-colored texas rigged plastic. He heavily targeted wood in a small area located on the south end of the lake. he sacked the 9-plus pound fish by 9 a.m. Nicholson and his partner, Shane Stagg, held a third-place position after day one but finished 10th overall in their first ever Ranger Aluminum Cup tournament.
