Brownie's Brookville Lake Regional

Brownie's Brookville Lake Regional

Tuesday, October 29, 2019

The Brownie's Brookville Lake Regional was held on October 20th out of the Fairfield Ramp. This event featured a guaranteed first-place prize of $2,500. When all was said and done, the team of Denny Johnson and Phil Hunt were the winners with a 11.63lb bag on a tough day of fishing.

Hunt shared that they stayed shallow and caught fish in one-foot of water and less. They started off pitching to shallow cover and ended the day with keepers on a buzzbait.

"It was tough fishing and the key was focusing on the mud instead of rock," said Hunt. They flipped Reacion Innovations Sweet Beavers with a 3/8 ounce Reins tungsten weight on a Powell 775 flipping stick and shared that they used 20-pound Gamma fluorocarbon.

In the afternoon, they were able to cull out some of their fish on a black 3/8 ounce PH Custom Buzz fished on a Powell 755 Endurance rod. One key, according to Hunt, was switching from mono to braid as they were able to land several short-striking bass. They used 30-pound Gamma Torque. "They were just swiping at the buzzbait and everyone was hooked on the trailer hook," he said.

Thanks to everyone who attended and to our sponsors for making this event possible.
