Guist Creek KY Divisional Champions 2010

Guist Creek KY Divisional Champions 2010

Monday, July 19, 2010

The KY-10 Guist Creek Division, held its last tournament of the season on July 17, 2010. At the start of this last event it was a tight race for the Divisional Points Championship.

Team Eddie Anglin/Tommy Roots were the favorite going into this last event with a three point lead over second place team Kirby Watts/Scott Duckworth.

Each team knew they had to have a good day of fishing to take the title.

Team Anglin/Roots struggled to put a pattern together and weighed in (2) fish for a total of 4.19lbs. Team Watts/Duckworth brought in a limit weighing 10.79lbs for second place and the title win.

“After three seasons it felt like a long time coming to win this title. It was a bitter sweet win for us. We came close to first place few times this year, and although we still never got a first; it was sweet to win the title!

Guist Creek is a tough lake to be consistent on and fish at times. You have to figure the fish out by trying different things every time you fish it. It makes you work harder to figure them out and makes you a better fisherman for it. It’s a character building lake. It is very rewarding when you figure out how to catch the fish for the day.

The tournaments are well run; a tight ship and by the book. Everyone has an equal opportunity to win. We also have a great community of anglers fishing this division. Being a smaller lake, it’s nice to be able to see and talk to anglers on the water. Most stay after the tournament and chat about their day on the water which is nice. We are very excited about fishing the Regional tournament!”   -Kirby Watts

By winning the Divisional Points Championship title the team will now compete at the Regionals against the other Divisional Champs. The top Divisional Champion at the Regionals will be crowned Regional Points Champions and move on to compete against the other Regional Points Champions at the Classic. The top Regional Points Champion will be crowned National Points Champions and receive a bonus of $5,000!

To round out the other paying places:

First Place went to Michael Fitch/Terry Satterly with a limit total of 11.18lbs.

Third Place & Big Bass went to John Sparr/Burt Kissick with (4) fish total of 8.22lbs that included a 4.87lb Largemouth.

Fourth Place went to Tom Koos with (3) fish total of 7.18lbs and netted him gift certificates from our division sponsor www.NervousBbaits.com

Thanks for all who fished with us this season! I hope to see all of you and new faces when our 2011 season starts this fall!
