Lake St. Clair Regional

Lake St. Clair Regional

Tuesday, September 26, 2023

The Lake St. Clair Regional was held on September 16th with anglers taking to one of the best smallmouth fisheries in the country. The team of Andy Ellenberger and Evan Timmons emerged victorious with a limit of 18.27 lbs and a 5.64 lb big bass.

Although they won, the day started off slowly. "The morning was slow by St. Clair standards and we didn't get a bite for an hour and a half," said Ellenberger. "We bounced around and started to find the fish in places that had patchy grass meeting thicker grass. This is where all of the perch were and we started side scanning and using LiveScope to find the areas."

In total, they estimated catching around 15 keepers as the bite picked up as the day went on. "We caught a lot of two-pounders but the bigger ones were few and far between," he said. "The bite turned on later in the day when the sun came out and the wind picked up."
