Brookville Lake Regional

Brookville Lake Regional

Wednesday, October 25, 2023

The Brookville Lake Regional was held on October 15th out of the Fairfield Ramp and featured tough fishing, with just four limits coming to the scales. Taking the win with 12.45lbs was the team of Jeff Mullen and Jeremy New.

New recapped the event, saying it was a "grind" and "typical Indiana fishing" for the regional. "We got two in the box in the first 35 minutes, nothing real big, but two keepers," he said. "It started off good and then died off for us and we only caught a couple of shorts."

The day turned around when the sun came out around 1 o'clock and the team made some adjustments. "We ran to some mainlake grass and the little bit of sunshine triggered them to bite," he said. "The sun was only out for about 30 minutes but it set the fish up and we went from having two keepers at 1 to culling at 3 o'clock."

They focused on grass in 6 to 8 feet of water and shared that the larger clumps seemed to be the key. Their baits ran the gamut and included swimbaits, tubes, vibrating jigs, and topwaters.
