There’s more than one way to get buzzed at Sigsbee Key. This little island just north of Key Werst is home to one of the best bonefish and permit flats in the northern hemisphere. Drive-bys and blowouts are as common as denials, and you’re just as likely to throw at the fish of a lifetime as you are to get a fighter jet flyby.

We’ve been there for the low altitude pants wetting and have also watched some pretty nice fish blister across the sand. We love the place and its commitment to environmental protection of the island’s natural habitat.

That’s why we named the newest addition to our Tight Lines Collection after Sigsbee Park, the cool little gathering spot for island locals. With narrow temples, pin hinges and a full wrap, the medium-fit Sigs frame sits tight to your face for maximum wind and sun protection.

Named after General Albert Sigsbee, a distinguished naval officer, Sigsbee Key has been home to a naval air base since the early 1900’s, and is now home to the Naval Air Station, Key West and a training ground for some of their top pilots. Along with the military presence, comes a strong environmental philosophy designed to protect the mangroves, seagrasses and coral reefs.

The islands inhabitants are watermen (and women) and spend their down time cruising the island channels on everything from a SUP or Kayak to small skiff. Like the smaller crafts that scour the shallows, our new Sigs frames are designed to fit small and medium faces, and are an extension of our popular Nippers frames, but with a bit more lens surface.
