09/30/2012- Excellent fishing and good weather was enjoyed by the thirty seven teams who took on Cherokee Lake. The Eastern Tennessee Regional turned out to be a success with several good stringers of bass being brought to the scales. Tournament Director JD Caldwell said “It started off pretty chilly, but warmed up nicely. There were some big bags for this lake.”
Steve Bean and Jacky Nicely weighed in 17.63 pounds to take the top prize. Their bass came in a flurry of topwater activity which happened mid-morning. “We caught one early on a Spook, but around 11:00 they started biting really good. We caught about ten keepers during that hour,” said Nicely.
In Second was the team of Lee Monday and Lee Verner who weighed in a 16.21 pound bag.
Third Place was the team of Bill Dunn and Orvil cope who had 13.24.
There was a tie for big bass with two teams weighing in 4.56 pound fish.
