Latest News Maine Regional![]() Thursday, October 11, 2012 Although the weather conditions could have been better, we still managed to yield 19 teams in the Maine Regional. With a couple days of hard rain leading up to the tournament, and more rain, heavy at times, most of the day Sunday, a lot teams wondered how the bite was going to be. The fish proved to be hungry though, as all 19 teams brought a limit to the scales.
First place was Jed Harris and Chet Tripp with 20.937 lbs. After doing some pre-fishing, they both had boat problems a couple days before the tournament and wasn’t even sure they could make it until the night before. I’m glad everything worked out for them in the end. The team also had Big Fish of the day with a beautiful 6.10 Largemouth. Chet said it was the first fish of the day too!! Second place, only a half pound behind, went to the team of Jason Swiantek and Hank Lindgren with 20.425 lbs. These guys came all the way from Connecticut to try and qualify for the classic. After spending a few days up here pre-fishing before the tourney, their hard work paid off and they will be going to Kentucky in May!! Great job guys!
Third place was Scott and Steve Harris with 17.712 lbs. The brothers are a couple of the best on this lake and they showed it again with another podium finish, well done gentlemen! Fourth place went to the Kennebec Valley Division champions, Scott Hinds and Aaron Watson. They also had the biggest Smallmouth, weighing in at 3.537 lbs.!
We also gave a couple awards out at the tournament meeting. Roy Ahlquist Jr. received a plaque for the biggest bass of the year in all Maine divisions. Marissa Kinney won the award for the best finishing youth in all the Maine divisions. She received a plaque and a Skeet Reese rod, courtesy of Naples Bait and Tackle.
With our 50/50 raffle, we managed to beat last years donation to the Next Generation Fund. In addition to the USA Bassin rod, we had over $400 in prizes to give away, courtesy of Dags Bait and Tackle and Naples Bait and Tackle.
USA Bassin would like to thank all the teams who fished the Maine regional.
