Beat The Winter Bite

Beat The Winter Bite

Friday, December 21, 2007

For the first couple months of winter, the bass will be looking for deep creek channels. Bass will be in the look out for schools of shad “forage fish” . They will usually be found in the channels about this time of year.
So you are going to want to be fishing heavier lures such as crankbaits, heavy jigs and different worm combinations. These three patterns and others can be fished very effectively along the edge of creek channels. You need to be sure that you are fishing very slow, because during this time of year. The fish will be very slow and non-aggressive.
During the winter months to, the bass will be in very tight schools. They will be stacked on top of each other in a vertical position along the creek channel drop offs. So be sure to fish very slowly down the channels, so it will be very rewarding to you or your partner.
While fishing in the winter be sure not to forget about your electronics, let it find the schooling bass. Let the electronics be the advantage to you, by letting you see those huge schools of fish below you. I know while you are fishing these impoundments in the winter. May seem to be very slow at times, but you must remember, once you find the fish, there may be several dozen down there. This time of year the bass gather in the largest schools, then any other time of the year.
