Director's Profile

Director's Profile

Thursday, April 18, 2013

Ten years has passed since the very first USA BASSIN Classic held on Lake Monroe. In that beginning field of anglers was Mike Glenn. Mike enjoyed his first year with BASSIN and could see that team tournament style fishing with a family atmosphere was something that he liked.  Glenn is from Mt. Vernon Illinois with Rend Lake as his local lake. Long-time friend and organizer of BASSIN Kevin Yeary approached Mike about taking over as director of the Rend Lake Division. When Mike took over the division on Rend it was averaging less than a dozen boats, Glenn has brought the division to over a 40 boat average. Mike also runs the Southern Illinois Regional for USA BASSIN that averages nearly 100 teams each year that travel from across the country to fish Mike’s events.  Kevin and Mike have maintained a lasting friendship working together developing USA BASSIN memberships. Glenn laughed when he said he will often call Kevin and tell him that is his bastard son on the line. Kevin would automatically know it was him on the line and they both would begin conversation with a good chuckle. Mike trucked heavy equipment across the country before retiring in Mt. Vernon and fishing has truly been in the retirement plan. Not only does Glenn direct for BASSIN he has been VP of a local bass club for several years and remains the director of all the clubs open tournaments. When asked what Mike felt was his favorite lake to fish Glenn replied: “Kentucky Lake without a doubt”. Mike said that someone catch bluegills to blue cats and big bass.  Glenn looks forward to USA BASSIN Championship Week each year at Kentucky Lake.  Mike is like all of our directors at BASSIN always willing to help with any information. If you would like to know more about Mike’s IL-01 division or his Illinois State Regional search www.usabassin.com or e-mail him at mrfishin99@hotmail.com.
