Latest News September: Tip Of The Month![]() Sunday, September 01, 2013 Rigging a Wacky Worm the traditional way-- driving the hook through the middle-- results in a lot of expensive baits flying off the hook or hanging up in brush. Here's how to solve two sticky wacky-worm problems at once. Shop It: Take your favorite wacky-worm baits to a hardware store and start shopping. You'll need black rubber O-ring washers like you'd use on a leaky kitchen sink, and they need to fit snugly on the body of your worm. While you're there, pick up a few small black panel nails or brads. Rig It: Snip off the nail head with wire cutters and insert the long part of the nail into the head of the worm. Slip the O-ring down to the midpoint of the worm. Thread your hook through this O-ring, so that the hook point is in-line with the worm. Fish It: Cast into the salad with confidence. The rubber O-ring absorbs the force of the cast, preserving the bait. The weight will make the worm fall slightly headfirst, carrying the hook with the point facing up. You'll snag less often-- and catch more fish!!
