Latest News Southern Indiana Regional #2Monday, September 16, 2013 Sunday September 15th was Southern Indiana Regional #2. Teams that pre-registered or decided to buy in had the option to fish the second regional tournament of the weekend on Patoka Lake out of Newton Stewart South Ramp. The second day of fishing proved to be tough for the 50 boats who decided to fish the second of the two events. None of the teams brought a full five fish limit to the scales. The 1st Place team was Eric Bass and David Sanders who had four fish for 13.14lbs. "It was tough, looking at the results speaks for it self. We came fished both days and caught three fish yesterday and got four today," added Sanders. The team came down early to prefish on Friday and expected to see a deep water bite on Patoka. 'We decided to fish shallow in practice and realized we needed to stay in the deeper water to do well. We caught them really early and had everything we weighed in by 9:00," added Sanders. The team caught two keepers on a crankbait and two on a brush hog before deciding to come in early to ensure their catch survived the heat and added stress. 2nd Place was Gary and Stacy Edwards who had four fish for 12.07lbs. "We just followed up with what we found during the first event (on Saturday). We finished 6th in that one and fished the same areas," added Edwards. The team focused on channel drops with a big texas rigged worm to catch a total of 7 fish, 4 keepers and 3 short fish. "We decided to stay and fish the second event because we found something late in the day on the first day and thought we would have a chance to do well again," added the Stacy Edwards. In Third Place was the team of Kelley and Kenneth Edwards who also finished in Third Place during Regional #1. They also had four fish and weighed in 11.95lbs. "We decided to stay and fish the next event because we we are eligible for the Nitro Boats incentive money because we run a Nitro Z-9. We were the highest Nitro finishers in both events and won an extra $500 each day because of it, we try to fish everything we can that is eligible for that because it's really a great incentive," added Ingle. The team had to switch methods during Regional #2 and go to a light weight on a Texas rig worm in the grass. "I think that little cold we had moved them up into the grass," added Ingle.
