Latest News Feburary Tip Of The Month![]() Friday, February 14, 2014 Cold-Water bass are lethargic, but they can still be caught. Deeper water, with its slightly warmer tempertures, is the key. Sonar, like the Garmin echoMap 70dv with LakeVu Maps, is crucial here. Use the depthfinder to locate schools of bass along a creek channel, treeline, bluff bank or deep point. Position your boat over the bass and fish them vertically with a jig from Obsession Lures or a spoon. Move the lure with a steady rhythm, always maintaining contact with the bait. Set the hook anytime you detect a slightly different senation. Vertical fishing keeps your offering right in front of the fish at all times, a very important technique in the winter when bass refuse to chase lures and are often hesitant to feed at all. Measure and mark your line at the depth to make sure the lure stays at the same level as the fish.
