MO-04 Truman Lake Division

The first tournament of the Mo-04 Spring/Summer Division is in the books.  Although it felt like a winter division tournament we had 15 teams braved the overnight cold front and blustery winds on Saturday morning.  With high skies, cold north winds and cold water temps bites prooved to be few and far between.  Only seven teams brought fish to the scales, and although there were no limits to be found, the numb fingers and frozen faces were quite abundant.

Gus Adkinson and Gary Arterberry took home Big Bass honors with a 3.92 largemouth, followed by Art Durbins' 3.20 offering.  Art managed to take the 2nd Big Bass out of the side pot.

Overall winners were John Krewson and Chris Thomas, they brought in 3 fish for 6.44lbs.  They also took 1st place in the side pot. Adkinson and Arterberry hung on for 2nd overall with their big bass anchoring a 6.04 bag. Gus and Gary also took 2nd in the side pot. Art Durbin sealed up the 3rd place spot with two fish that weighed 5.63. The Napa Know How Award went to Chris Callahan and Doug Wallace with two fish weighing in at 5.11.

Jerkbaits were the weapons of choice by those who weighed the top bags.  Even though the fish were sluggish what bites were had were solid.

The next tournament is set for April 12,2014.  We will again launch from Sterett Creek with registration being held inside the marina.

I'd like to give a special thanks to Ken and Cathy Beyer, the new owners of Sterett Creek Marina, for welcoming us and for opening the marina ahead of schedule for our registration.  I'd also like to thank The Smokeshack Restaurant of Warsaw for providing a hot breakfast for all of us at registration, as well as some delicious pulled pork and brisket during the weigh in.  We will definitely be looking forward to seeing them again on the 12th.

As a reminder for those of you who fished and as an incentive for those of you who didn't: the 2014 Missouri Regional Tournament, which will be held here on Truman, will pay a guaranteed $3000 to win.  You need 250 points to qualify to fish in the regional.
