USA Bassin New England's First Regional Champs-Williamson & Williamson

Thursday, November 06, 2008
USA Bassin New England's 2008 season came to an end a few weeks ago on Lake Wentworth, located in Wolfeboro New Hampshire, where we held our New England Regional Championship and Classic Qualifier. The watershed is made up of a chain of fishing areas, the main lake body Lake Wentworth (3116 acres) and Crescent Lake (116 acres). The days before this event happen the temperatures drop into and below the 30's, with morning frost on boat decks up until the day of the event. The Town of Wolfeboro was a big help and stopped drawing water on Friday before we fished and took the opportunity to fix the town ramp making the launching of boats less problematic. Thank you very much. Because of these two factors boaters were able to operate safely during the event.
On Saturday night we had a pre-tournament meeting at the All Saints' Episcopal Church meeting hall for all teams. Linda Siracusa the Director of the churches pre-school and Mark McLaughlin the Church Sexton got together with the several volunteers from the church to plan a simple dinner, where all proceeds went to support the churches pre-school. This team did a wonderful job and our anglers were pleasantly surprised. Linda, Mark and their crew also prepared breakfast sandwiches and coffee for the morning of the event and box lunches for teams on the water Sunday. Again all proceeds went to support the churches pre-school program. All together the relationship with the All Saints' Episcopal Church was perfect and when we return to the Wolfeboro area to fish, we hope to continue this relationship and look forward to it.
So how about the fishing! 28 teams fished and the fishing was challenging for most. We had 11 limits and 83 fish weighed in. Of the 28 teams who fished we handed out $1000 in prizes and $2630 prize money, seventeen teams received prizes - exceeding 100% payback. Here are top seven teams to the event:
1. Williamson and Williamson - 20.08 total weight, 5.92 lunker, $1130 in cash and two new CastAway Graphite fishing rods
2. Cain and Cain - 14.18 total weight, 3.94 lunker, $490 in cash and a Hummingbird 565 fishfinder
3. Alberto and Gilbert - 13.46 total weight, 4.32 lunker, $400 in cash and a Save Phace Freedon mask
4. Grimm and Kennedy - 10.74 total weight, 5.44 lunker, $300 in cash and a Save Face Mask

6. Bouchard and Janosik - 10.34 total weight, $140 in cash

All five divisional champions also competed against one another to be the Divisions Points Champions of New England. The Team of Cain and Cain earn this recognition and have also earned a free entry into the Classic.
Alberto and Gilberto also earned the honor of earning Tournament Rewards money as the highest placing Nitro Boat in this event-Congratulations.
Congratulations to all teams for fishing.
