Latest News Day's Eastern Kentucky Regional![]() Monday, September 21, 2015 The Day's Eastern Kentucky Regional was held on Cave Run Lake out of Clay Lick Ramp. The anglers were faced with great weather but tough fishing. The fish were there, but many of them fell into the lakes restricted slot limit of 13 to 16 inches, making the 10 to 13 inch fish and over 16 inch bass being the only fish eligible to be weighed in. The duo of David M. Chandler and Danell Mckinney won it all and had big bass with a total weight of 7.78lbs with a 4.80lb kicker. "It normally takes more weight than it did, usually it is around 12 to 14lbs but the fishing was tough. The fish still seemed to be in a summer pattern," added Chandler. The team caught most of their winning bag in the first hour and a half on soft plstics. Their big bass was caught by Chandler within the first five casts of the morning and proved to be the difference maker in their win. Second place was Chad Nickell and Tim Mays with a limit weighing 6.73lbs. They had their best success early and late in the day. "We caught them right away in the first hour and then again later in the last hour. There was a long period of dead time," said Mays. They used jigs, crankbaits and plastic worms to catch their fish. They had one fish over the slot limit and the rest were in the under range. Third place was Billy Blevins and James Bloomfield with 6.48lbs. Congrats to all of the top finishers and thank you to all of the teams for fishing the Day's Eastern Kentucky Regional.
