Latest News New Jersey State Regional![]() Monday, September 28, 2015 Salem Canal was the site of the New Jersey State Regional and tough fishing was the story of the event. Another tournament was held the day before and several nice fish were brought to the scales and it took 15lbs to win. When the USA Bassin anglers hit the water, it took close to half of that to take the top honors. Mike Sentore and Matt Novak won the event with 8.31lbs and had the only limit of the entire field. They caught an estimated 12 keepers on a variety of baits. "We started off with a buzzbait and caught two right away. We also caught them on a Riot Baits Fuzzy Beaver, Yamamoto Kreature bait, spinnerbait, jig and squarebill crankbait. It was a true junk fishing tournament for us," said Sentore. Second place was Mike Graham and Russell Decamp with three fish for 7.70lbs. "It was tough to get fish, but we ended up getting three of them with jigs and plastics in shallow bushes," said Graham. Third place was the team of Drew Scarpa and Leamy Sockwell with four fish for 7.65lbs. Their bag was helped greatly by the big bass of the event, a 4.51lb bass caught by Sockwell. "He hurt his back recently and didn't think he was even going to be able to fish it. He had to fish really slow and that's how he caught the big one," said Scarpa. The team fished jigs, crankbaits and spinnerbaits to get their fish. Congrats to the top finishers and thank you to all of the teams for fishing the New Jersey State Regional. Complete results:
