Renegade Marine's Cabin Fever Open

Renegade Marine's Cabin Fever Open

Wednesday, March 16, 2016

The Lucas Oil Renegade Marine's Cabin Fever Open was held on March 5th on Nolin Lake out of the Moutardier Ramp.  The team of Rick Hiser and Tommy Pedigo won the event with 15.37lbs and a big bass of 7.96lbs.  They took home the guaranteed first prize of $1,000.

Hiser also won this same event last year fishing with his son. This year's event started shortly after 6:30 in the morning and within 30-45 minutes, the winning team already had their limit.  They focused on shallow water with squarebill crankbaits in an area they had found a few weeks prior to the event.  The fish were there and biting early in the event. "It was exactly the time the solunar tables said would be the best fishing and then it shut off like a light switch," said Hiser.

The rest of the day was slow with only short fish until around 1:30 when they decided to make a move. "We decided to go to an area where I lost a big one and that is where I got the 7.96lb fish," Hiser recalled. That fish proved to be the difference maker as the second place team of Kiper and Kiper weighed in just over 13lbs.

USA Bassin would like to thank all of the teams for fishing this great event. We would also like to thank Renegade Marine, Lucas Oil and the rest of our sponsors for helping make this event possible.
