Latest News Smith Mountain Lake Regional Monday, September 19, 2016 The Smith Mountain Lake Regional was held on the Virginia lake out of Oak Grove Ramp on September 10th. The fishing was tough according to the winners Trevis and Danny Towe, but they were able to win the guaranteed $1,000 first place prize with a nearly five pound fish in the closing moments of the tournament. "We only had five bites all day and the last one came right next to the ramp. We pulled it in, threw it in the livewell and raced in to weigh-in. If we would have already had a limit and had to cull, we probably wouldn't have had enough time," said Trevis Towe. They only had five keepers and just one at 1:30. Most of their fish came in the afternoon and were caught on a variety of baits; a jig, big worm and drop shot all played a role in their winning bag of 16.24lbs. Top 5 Results:
