Latest News Southern Illinois State Regional Tuesday, September 20, 2016 The Southern Illinois State Regional was held on Rend Lake on September 17th out of the Sailboat Ramp. It featured 137 teams vying for the guaranteed prize of $5,000 as well as additional cash for top finishers. Winning the event was the team of Brad Schoenrock and Stanley Beppler with a 15.34lb limit. The team started the morning off fast and were culling fish in short order. The start of the event was delayed due to weather, but at 8:45am they were already culling fish. "We were mainly upgrading by a few ounces at a time but we continued catching them off and on until around 2:00," said Beppler. Their big fish weighed 4.52 and was caught by Beppler around 8:00. "This was a gamechanger for us since most of the others we were catching were in the two pound range," he said. They caught fish on jigs, creature baits and spinnerbaits and fished shallow most of the day. "The cloud cover helped and we were catching fish in 2-3 feet of water. The clouds kept them up shallow and the morning bite lasted longer," added Beppler. Congrats to all of the top finishers! Top Ten Results
