Brownie's Marine Geist Open

Brownie's Marine Geist Open

Wednesday, August 02, 2017

The Brownie's Marine Geist Open was held on July 30th on Geist Reservoir out of the Olio Ramp. The event featured a guaranteed first place prize of $2,000 and drew 45 teams for the tournament. The weights were close and there were many limits brought to the scales.

Taking first was the team of Bill Smith and Chad Rector with a limit weighing 15.63lbs. Included in their bag was a 4.83lb largemouth that helped their total weight and was just short of the overall big bass of 4.91lb caught by Trotter and Trotter.

Smith and Rector caught most of their fish early and relied on jigs and tubes around docks. "The deeper docks were better for us. We caught most of our fish early and then it was a grind," said Smith. They went through 10 or 11 keepers and were able to cull a few times. Aside from their biggest bass, the rest were all solid fish between 2.5-3.5lbs.

USA Bassin would also like to thank Brownie's Marine for all their support. Thank you to all of the teams for competing in this event!
